ABOUT ICLS

Lesson Study is a form of collaborative and continuous professional development in which a group of teachers work together to improve the quality of teaching and learning. The term "lesson study" originates from the Japanese phrase jugyo kenkyu. In Indonesia, the Indonesia Lesson Study Association (ALSI) serves as a professional organization for educators who implement lesson study as a means of enhancing instructional quality. One of ALSI’s key activities is the organization of an international seminar in collaboration with host universities, known as the International Conference on Lesson Study (ICLS). The ICLS has become a central platform for academics and educational practitioners to advance the practice of lesson study in Indonesia. Since its inception, the conference has continued to grow, bringing together experts from both domestic and international contexts to share experiences and innovations in teaching and learning. Over the past 15 editions, ICLS has been held at various universities, each highlighting strategic themes aimed at improving the quality of education. This year, the 16th ICLS will be hosted by Universitas Riau, demonstrating the university’s strong commitment to supporting lesson study and educational innovation. The conference is expected to further strengthen academic networks and promote the implementation of lesson study in the digital era. With a spirit of collaboration, the 16th ICLS is set to become a vibrant forum for dialogue and exchange of ideas toward more innovative and sustainable learning practices.
